But Cook enjoys a strong bowling side...which alas, SRT didn't have at his disposal? You just can't factor that into a stat, can you? Which is why these things are pointless.

County Captain should not comment on an international player, captain, milestone holder. Go back to playing with the overdosed players you fool.

Yet another reason as to why Cook can beat the record.

I wonder if we'll see a trend - older the age gets (26, 27, 28...), the gap between Sachin and 2nd player increase?

And looking at that, Smith also seems "great" (he's good no doubt) and he's close to Sachin in that list but it doesn't look like that he will end up breaking Sachin's records. Maybe same will happen to Cook.

Yeah it definitely could happen. Thing is I beleive Cook has only just entered his peak (last year) if he can sustain this for 3-4 years it will put him in a great position. But you have to remember Smith is still only about 31. So if he kept playing for another 5 years he may even have a shout.

    At 27, Cook's average is 48.6 and Sachin's average is 56.9

So Cabinet and other folks here whoever think Cook is better than Tendulkar should listen to this carefully:

    - Sachin is and will always be better than Cook.
    - After the 8-0 humiliation, people have jumped onto the anti-Sachin bandwagon and started painting a glum picture which has been clearly miss pointed by his hater fans.
    - As for hero-worshipping, it is an ridiculous thought to even emerge to do it.
    - Sachin's best days are behind him, his age has gotten to him and I believe he knows about it too.
    - Players like Cook, Clarke and Ponting have showed their potential in this Cricketing world, but do not forget they were also failing a year ago.
    - If you are to remember, Cook was in worse stage than Sachin like 3-4 years ago and where was he on the favourite or hero-worshing list? He was no where close to Sachin (what am I saying?). He was like one of us. A newbie Cricket, perhaps more like me. No identity, no fans, no money - a homeless douche asking for money to be able to become a Cricketer one day.
    - Lastly, this is one pointless Thread. You guys will rot in hell one day.

That's the sort of comment that grinds my gears. Be specific. If both went out to open in Australia Cook would do better, as justified by their last tours.

People forget that before the Ashes in 2010 he was 25. An average in the low 40's opening in England, Australia, and South Africa, playing against McWare, Steyn and Morkel etc...he did a pretty good job.

Excuse me. We created this thread after someone said Cook had no chance of beating Tendulkar's records. So we decided to keep it in one place that we could dig to see the result in 10 years. Hardly see why we should rot in hell for it.
