South Africa should use the upcoming three-Test series against Sri Lanka to deepen their pool of international players, according to the former national selector Hugh Page. Sri Lanka travel as the underdogs - not only do they have the historical disadvantage of never recording a Test win in South Africa, but their current form is dismal - they have not managed one Test victory this year. Page sees it as a chance to blood fringe players ahead of a year which includes tours to New Zealand, England and Australia.

Opening batsman Alviro Petersen has been recalled to South Africa's 13-man squad for the first Test against Sri Lanka. Uncapped Titans seamer Marchant de Lange has also been included although he is unlikely to play because of a dislocated thumb. Lonwabo Tsotsobe, JP Duminy and Paul Harris have been dropped.

Sri Lanka captain Tillakaratne Dilshan says his team's batting must improve if they are to stand a chance in their upcoming series with South Africa.

Batting collapses have dogged Sri Lanka during their three Test series so far this year. Each has ended in a 1-0 defeats - against England, Australia and Pakistan - with innings totals below 200 commonplace for the Asian nation.

Fast bowler Nuwan Pradeep has been ruled out of Sri Lanka's tour of South Africa while key batsman Kumar Sangakkara is a doubt ahead of Thursday's first Test.

Right-armer Pradeep sustained a torn hamstring during the weekend's warm-up game in Benoni so joins a long list of injured Sri Lankan quick bowlers.

I would go for the first test match, there is a risk but you are gonna win triple the money in the match compared to the series!!
