Kevin Pietersen Retires From International Limited Overs Cricket

Kevin Pieterse Retires From International Limited Overs Cricket

So we now have to go to another international tournament this September with no hope of winning. KP has **** ODI form for 4 years, and promptly retires when he finds form. Thanks for repaying the selectors faith in you Arse Hole. It's like he wanted to just prove the media wrong before he retired. Ironic that after all the IPL nonsense with India last year, it's England who are the first real victims of it, in fact we were all ready with Pietersen and Flintoff's injuries in 2009.

Anyway it's probably just a hissy fit. I expect him to be belting it in the ODI's next summer.

I wrote that, and then made a link for it, using the thing on the top bar next to the smileys.

Just found out KP only wanted to retire from ODI's, but the ECB forced him to retire from both. Insanity!

    Oh the irony FMD!

did not see that one coming. Wonder what influenced that decision Funny thing is that his still gonna play IPL (which is T20). Honestly, if IPL is to blame then its a real shame for Cricket.

    IPL of course

It really reflects how meaningless ODIs have got over the past few years. There's only 2 significant forms of cricket left - Test Cricket and IPL. Despite all the fears, Test Cricket will always have its place and Twenty20 will live on due to the money; ODIs don't have a very bright future.

Seems like ECB has kicked him out of the T20 team as well...

Good on KP TBH. I wish some of our GRANDPA players would take his lead and retire from limited overs to let the young guys come in.

As far as I care, he can retire in 4 months and never put on coloured clothing again. But he's made our chances of winning the World T20 near impossible.

FTR I suspect the timing of his decision is to try and convince the ECB to change their ruling on being able to retire from just ODI's. He's hoping they'll make an exception for them with the T20 world cup just round the corner.

^ Mainly because more people went to the stadiums (cheaper tickets) and it wasn't on TV in some places like Aus.

How is it selfish not retiring and continuing to fight for your country. If Tendulkar isn't good enough, he should get dropped. It's not selfish on his part.

by selfish, he is not allowing youngsters to get his place. How are they going to cope with swinging conditions if they are never given a chance to do so. They get opportunities in India and that too in ODI and T20 matches where Sachin does not play often. Test Cricket is where its at and India is slowly getting dominated by all the teams. West Indies surprised them last year as well. Sachin knows himself that his time is up and he needs to retire.

If the board think that that's the best thing to happen, they should drop him. Tendulkar is just doing everything he can to try and win games for his country.

He needs to try harder and actually win some games for India. Failed last 16 innings overseas... hence the name, Floppy!
