Late arrival would be welcomed after IPL exit

    ...

But Sammy refused to close the door on the possibility after West Indies' five-wicket defeat against England at Lord's put them 1-0 down in the series, suggesting that both he and the coach, Ottis Gibson, would be content to accommodate Gayle's late arrival.

    Pietersen wants Gayle return

Kevin Pietersen has said it would be "brilliant for the game" if West Indies recalled Chris Gayle for the remainder of the Test series against England.

Well he isn't coming back. Frankly WI have moved on from jokers like him, and they're performing better than ever.

3 years ago he arrived late, claimed he wouldn't be upset if Test Cricket died, admitted to not wanting to be there, and his side duly lost by 10 wickets and an innings in the two tests. We had Bopara at 3, Bresnan on debut at 7, and were far from the team we are now. Darren Sammy might not be Garry Sobbers but he's doing a fine job and WI are doing much better now that they've got rid of lazy trainers and people who think they are bigger than the team.

Surely him getting knocked over by the likes of Steyn on a slow pitch in the IPL show that he wouldn't at all be able to cope with Anderson in swinging and seaming conditions?

I love how the WI players are enhancing their test reputations by not playing.

Gayle is rubbish anyway. He's like Sehwag but plays through cover instead of backward of point. He'd be useless in Eng.

That's because our bowlers bowled him nothing but pies 5 feet outside off stump for him to carve through cover/point all day.

Gayle's return is not gonna help Windies much on English Pitches, he's gonna struggle badly. They need Sarwan.

The village green arguably a better place to prepare for a test match.

That will only help if these village cricketers know how to swing the ball...

Of course they do. Swing is the easiest thing to do FFS. The first time I ever bowled with a hard ball it swung.
