    Discussion: Infraction System

Who issues infractions to moderators (e.g. Rager/Cabi/yourself/etc)? Why these sudden measures? If the current rules are to abided by, then Rob would be banned by now, since almost all of his posts are inciteful. Where does it end? Also, what is a permanent ban? It makes no sense. I recommend only bans with definite durations with a maximum of a month or two. Feel free to move this post to the relevant thread.

Even though this does seem like dictatorship and super strict rules, its not! Its more so to curb all the useless posts Kingamon is posting (which I'm sure you agree are bringing the quality of the forum down).

Nevertheless, the bigger reason this was introduced was to have a PROPER SYSTEM, rather than randomly going "should we ban him? how many days ban? etc.". In Kingamon's case, he has got only 5 points with all the spam posts he is making and you receive your first ban at 10 points (3 days) - which I think are PLENTY of warnings and if one doesn't learn after all those warnings, I'm sorry but we can't do much.

Once again, NOTHING has changed. We just have a system in place. We're trying to stop the fun; just making sure quality of the forum stays high.

    ------------------

The system will only come after you if your posts are OBVIOUSLY spam/insulting/etc.

Give some power to another member who can issue infraction to the mods and Admins :yao:

You guys are panicking. Relax! We're still pretty easy going and we're here to have fun....not to issue infractions to our fellow members

Who issues infractions to moderators (e.g. Rager/Cabi/yourself/etc)?
    Yes. Admins and moderators.

I understand the motivation. On the other hand, a permanent ban is going way too far, IMHO. Repeated issues of 30 day or 60 day "permanent" bans will have the same effect and send a strong enough message to the person responsible (they'll effectively be out more often than in). I strongly urge the powers that be to consider revising this one aspect.

I don't think you fully understand the system.

Let's say I gave you an infraction for spamming the forum - 2 points. Your account will have 2 points for 30 days; after days, your account will return to normal - 0 points; back to square one.

So, you would actually have to mess up REALLY bad to actually get to 25 points and get banned. That would include spamming the **** out of the forum, posting pornography pictures, posting links to download illegal software, swearing at someone's mother, and hating on Brett Lee

I wouldn't break the rules, so I don't need infractions but technically, I can issue infractions to Cabi/AmritM but not vice versa.

Infractions are warning points you get for making spam posts; useless posts; posts that derail threads.

So if you get 5 points you get banned for how many days?

Bugaboo, when I gave you 2 infractions when you joined you didn't care. Now you're making a thread about infractions

You can't ban someone for breaking the new rules when they weren't in place. Rob actually has a lot of cricket knowledge maybe a few infractions and bans will make him get his act together

As CoverDrive said you would have to be a continues annoyance to get a lifetime ban. If you made a thread advertising a porn site which had huge pictures on it with hardcore sex pictures you'd only get a 7 day ban. If you do that twice in a month you deserve to go in my opinion.

Exactly if you're a good member you shouldn't have to worry about these things. But also don't be offended if we give you an infraction. It's not a personal thing about you, it just means that we think that post was inappropriate.

    ------------------

Also if you feel an infraction was given unfairly feel free to PM the moderator who gave it to try and justify why it didn't deserve the infraction

That should make me feel better perhaps. But the long arm of the law... nobody is spared man. The forum has turned into the Gestapo now.
